Embrapa

The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) was created on April 26, 1973 and is linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa). Since our creation, we have taken on a challenge: to develop, together with our partners, the National Agricultural Research System (SNPA), a genuinely Brazilian tropical agriculture and livestock model, overcoming as barriers that limit the production of food, fibers and energy in our Parents.

This effort helped to transform Brazil. Today our agriculture is one of the most efficient and sustainable on the planet. We incorporate a wide area of degraded lands from the cerrados to the production systems. A region that today accounts for almost 50% of our grain production. We quadrupled the supply of beef and pork and enlargers 22 times the supply of chicken. These are some of the achievements that have taken the country from being an importer of basic foods to being one of the largest producers and exporters in the world.
